What a nice idea! I wish my town would have something so family oriented. The first visit was to hear the New Breed Brass Band. Plenty of lawn seating available. Vendors of food and beverages took care of that need and the weather cooperated. Kids ran and cartwheeled around us while an artist painted his depiction of the music played. The second visit was just as nice for the Arts & Drafts event, but the beer tasting was disappointing. Arrived a half hour after the tasting was to begin. The hours were 4-6pm. The majority of the vendors had left. So I traveled 2 hours and spent $20 for a shot glass and the chance to try beer from only 4 companies. I would be leary to try that event again.

Artists Vera Tracy and Loretta Gerald ruined Artfields 2017 with their so-called "art" pieces. I'm very disappointed in Lake City for allowing these appalling displays. This was the worst year ever in Artfield's 5-year history, and last year was a close 2nd. Keep it up Lake City, and this won't be the wonderful event it started out to be! You're beginning to spoil it for all the worthy artists.

Shockingly disappointing. I am an artist who went to enjoy good art. Instead I saw vulgar, disgusting, political, and weird pieces that could NEVER be considered ART. Shame on your jurors. Also, very sad to see the young school children tour these works being told this is "art". Renoir said "To my mind, a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful, and pretty, yes pretty ! There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them." Well said.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of many pieces this year. The installation pieces were mostly absurd, and there were far too many exhibited. The jurors need to be more discriminating with their choices, choosing examples of the high quality of fine art available here in South Carolina that illustrates the talent in our region, rather than those vying to make their ridiculous political statements. i would not recommend the trip to my fellow artists this year and I hope the quality of the exhibitors improves or many of us will pass on Lake City in 2018.

Shocking, tasteless "art" keeps getting accepted into this sham of an event. One year the winner was a pile of boxes that produced sound. Darla Moore, the billionaire who started this, has been buying up Lake City and kicking people out of their properties, but she's supposedly a philanthropist.
